WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE STANDARD MODEL 700 FINISHER?

Everyone knows that the Model 700 Finisher is a tidy, robust machine.  Everything on the machine “works” Everything on the machine is in the right place.  It has been the workhorse of the repair trade for decades.

Five years ago, as the manufacturers of the Model 700, we decided to undertake the first major redevelopment on the machine in order to assist the machine operator.  It is no coincidence that this was done once Keith Malyon became our Sales Director.  As a shoe repairer himself he had definite ideas of how he would like to see the machine develop to make it easier for the end user.

This centred on updating the extraction ports and the rather clunky, old style shutters and tinwork.  The newly christened 710 Finisher, with only moderately cosmetic alterations, has proved to be Standard’s best ever selling finisher.

However, the 710 is only a modification of the original design.  The basic machinery chassis remained the same.  Evolution rather than revolution.

The more we interacted with our customers and spoke about what they liked or would prefer on new machinery, the more we began to develop the next stage up from the 700/710 design, the appropriately named Model 720.

Much of the redesign, was centred around the extraction system, and improved access around the tooling.  Customers wanted more room to work around the scouring areas, so we gave it to them.  When offering tooling options, more and more were looking for a mini scouring roll rather than a heel cutter, so we incorporated this also.

Since the Model 720 was launched at Sandown two years ago we have not rested on our laurels.

The 720 has been further enhanced to work equally well for both repairers and the orthopaedic trade.  Certain materials, when scoured, react differently to our powerful extraction system.  We found that twin speed options for both the scouring bands, AND the extraction fan, gave the operator greater flexibility of working across a range of common materials such as leather, micro and thermoplastic rubber.  This range of options gives the operator effective control over the materials being worked, and their extraction through the machine.

In addition, many people found the option of a third scouring head with mini roll useful (as a replacement for the antiquated mini-band unit).  We now include this as part of the standard 720 build.  Allied with further modifications to the dust extraction system, and illuminated push-button controls, our latest Model 720 is the class leading machine available to the UK and Europe.

When supplied alongside our “Air-Flo” Pressbench, with its revolutionary fume filtration system and powerful press, we believe this system offers the widest flexibility, highest quality and best value unit available to the shoe repairer, and orthopaedic technician alike.

Whilst we cannot promise entirely bespoke machinery, we can provide tailored systems, giving you the choice of how you work, and offering you the best solutions available.

Standard Engineering – serious about machinery.
