PREVENTATIVE (YAWN) MAINTENANCE!

Nothing can induce your eyes to cloud over quicker than hearing the above phrase.

We’ve all been there.  You are buying a new television and the 12-year old shop assistant starts wittering on about spending yet more hundreds of pounds to maintain a device you’re probably going to upgrade in a couple of years anyway.  It takes all of your effort to not simply let out a huge, almost lock-jaw inducing yawn right into his little spotty face, doesn’t it?

When it comes to your car however, maintenance and service are more important, because the car is your method of transport.  Your way to get from “A” to “B”.  You’d be lost without it.

By extending this logic further you would be forgiven for thinking that when it came to maintaining the shoe repair machinery that EARNS the money to pay for the televisions and the automobiles, the owner would strive to ensure it is in tip-top condition.  Ah, if that were only the case!  Even though more and more repairers are coming around to this point of view, there are still too many people who assume or hope their machinery will magically keep running perfectly forever.

Don’t wait for a breakdown to get your machinery looked at – do yourself a favour and think about the advantages of Preventative Maintenance, even if you can’t quite stifle a yawn while doing it!

We offer what we call a “Machinery Healthcheck” where an expert service engineer will give your machinery the once over to make sure that it is performing well and safely.  If there is something fundamentally wrong or dangerous it can be spotted and either rectified, or at the very least, brought to your attention to allow you to make an informed decision about the work needed to maintain the equipment that supports your livelihood.  Of course, another option is to run your repair equipment until one day something goes BANG! CRUNCH! or PFFT! and then call our helpline.

The advantage of booking a “Machinery Healthcheck” is that generally a working machine is cheaper to maintain than a broken one is to repair.  Small matters can be dealt with on the day, and you will be informed of any, more deep-seated problems.  It is then in your hands to decide how to deal with any other issues – but at least you’ll know the score.

Have you ever considered how long you are prepared, or able to go without your finisher?  What if it breaks down on a Friday morning and you can’t get one of our engineers in to the shop before Monday afternoon?  That’s an awful lot of downtime, isn’t it?  And that’s IF the machine can be fixed!  This is not always easy or possible, particularly when a machine has gone BANG! CRUNCH! or PFFT!

Furthermore, what if the parts needed have to be brought in from the continent?  Suddenly you could be facing the prospect of being without your finisher for weeks rather than days!
