On Friday 27th June Standard Engineering was the scene of a reciprocal visit from several employees from their Dutch partners at Jos America. A number of our people had visited the Netherlands last year to get a flavour of the Dutch methodology, machinery and outlook. This was their turn to get frisked and humiliated at a couple of airports.
 The return visit was an opportunity for the Dutch to see how things were done properly!
After a meet and greet in the showroom our projector was kick started and a PowerPoint show ran through something of the history of repairing in the UK and compared and contrasted this to the situation on the Continent. The long history of Standard was also touched upon, as well as our machinery range and the thinking behind it.
The production process in the factory was then ran through, which involved Sales Director Keith walking our guests around the facility. They were particularly interested in a couple of elements Standard offer, which they do not. Namely the production of outsole and insole stitchers, and the CNC facility which allows us to produce many of our components.
All in all the visitors seemed to enjoy their visit, and hopefully came away with a better understanding of what Standard are all about, and this can only benefit our continuing association.
